Terms and Conditions
Here you will find supplementary terms and conditions for Folkeuniversitetet.
Scope
These terms and conditions apply to all who register for a course at Folkeuniversitetet. The terms are also applicable if you are a participant in a company course programme, unless otherwise specifically agreed with Folkeuniversitetet.
In cases where participants register for a course via their employer, organisation, trade union or NAV, and they are part of a separate group, special rules may apply. As a participant, it is your responsibility to inquire whether there is such a special agreement between the organization you are affiliated with, or your employer. Separate terms apply to courses that Folkeuniversitetet offers in collaboration with other educational institutions.
When you buy a course for yourself or your employee, the person who is registered for the course will be allowed to participatein the chosen course.
The participant’s responsibility to inquire and provide information
When you register for a course at Folkeuniversitetet, you are required to familiarize yourself with these terms and conditions. In addition to these terms, the purchase order you receive when you register, will comprise this agreement. The purchase order contains information about the course you are registered on, date of purchase and the price.
Changes and reservations
Folkeuniversitetet reserves the right to cancel courses that do not have sufficient registered participants at course start. We also reserve the right to cancel courses due to unforeseen circumstances that make the implementation difficult. Based on the above-mentioned points, courses can also be postponed to another date. You will then receive a confirmation 3 -7 days before the course starts.
Folkeuniversitetet is not responsible for any printing/typing errors in the course information, course descriptions, exam plans and other documentation that apply to the individual course.
Folkeuniversitetet reserves the right to make changes to terms that apply to the institution, including the right to change study programs, schedules, curriculum, tuition fees, etc.
One teachinghour on our courses corresponds to 45 minutes + 15 minutes break.
Right of Withdrawal
When you register for a course, you will receive a purchase order, which documents the agreement between you and Folkeuniversitetet. This agreement is binding. However, when registering via the Folkeuniversitetet website or by phone, you have the right to withdraw according to the Right of Withdrawal Act. This means that, you have a 14-day withdrawal period, no questions asked. If you wish to withdraw, you must inform Folkeuniversitetet of your decision in writing. You can use the withdrawal form that is sent to you after you registered or send us a message from Min side.
If you regret your purchase, Folkeuniversitetet will refund all payments received from you, except for any registration fee that was applicable to the course (see the section Course fee), without undue delay, and no later than 14 days after the date we receive your notification to withdraw your registration. You will be refunded by the same means of payment that you used when you bought the course (see the section Payment), unless otherwise agreed with us. You will not be charged any fees as a result of the refund.
If you have purchased an online course and log into the e-learning platform before the cancellation period has expired, you waive your right to cancel, according to the Right of Cancellation Act §22.
If you choose to make use of your right of withdrawal after the course has started, you must pay for the tuition hours you have received up to the date Folkeuniversitetet gets the notification of your decision, ref. Right of Withdrawal Act §26. You will then be reimbursed for the remaining tuition hours.
Course fee and registration fee
For purchase of courses on Folkeuniversitetet's website, the following routines apply:
- All courses must be paid upon enrolment, except courses that have an application process. Courses with an application process have a registration fee that must be paid together with the submitted application. This registration fee is non-refundable.
- The invoice for the course fee will be sent to you via Min side at the start of the semester the course is due to start. If the course runs over two semesters, the course fee for the second semester will be invoiced at the start of the second semester.
Payment
When purchasing a course on the website, you can choose the following means of payment:
- Klarna, pay within 30 days or Klarna Split payments. You can read their terms and conditions here: Klarna
- Vipps
- Card
- Other Payer (for example your employer or NAV)
For courses purchased in other ways than via the website, the course fee and any other costs will be invoiced to you via Min side and can be paid with the same payment options as mentioned above.
Other Payer
If you choose the option Other Payer, for example your employer, we will send an invoice to the company for the fee of the course you are going to attend. The company will also receive an e-mail with information about you and the course on which you are enrolled, and to inform them that they have been listed as the payer for the course.
If the company listed as Other Payer does not approve this, you will be responsible for paying for the course. You will then be invoiced for the course fee and any additional costs via Min side before the course starts. It is therefore important that you have agreed in advance with your employer or the institution you register as Other Payer.
In the event of a significant breach of the agreement, the agreement can be terminated by the other party (the customer or Folkeuniversitetet). The breach notification must be sent in writing to the party who is believed to have breached the agreement. This must be done within a reasonabletime frameafter, and no later than, three weeks after the breach was discovered.
If the tuitionfee is not paid, you will lose the right to attend the course, and you will lose access to thee-learning platform. In the event of non-payment, Folkeuniversitetet will implement ordinary legal recovery of the unpaid amount.
Cancellation after the start of the course
If you cancel later than 14 days before the course starts, you will not be refunded the course fee unless your Right of Withdrawal still applies. For courses that run over several semesters, you will only be charged for the semester that the cancellation applies.
Cancellation must be made in writing. You can do this by e-mail to info@folkeuniversitetet.no or via Min side.
Interrupting studies due to illness or other personal issues
